Burdigala

Burdigala is the provincial capital of Aquitania. Boasting a population of 20,000, it is the largest city in the area.

The limes of the city are delineated by stone markers. All areas within the city are low-mana. They are also normal sanctity to the Roman gods. There are several temples, each of which is high-sanctity to the gods they are dedicated to and no-mana.

The city garrison is a double vexellation of troops detached from Legio IX. The 4th and 6th cohorts, they are overseen by the centurion of the 4th cohort. Three months a year, one of the tribunes of Legio IX rotates back to Burdigala, at which time he is the commander.

Burdigala is famous for its wine and its ceramics, two industries which support each other well. It is close enough to the mouth of the Garumna river to be used as a harbor, although some larger vessels are not able to make the journey laden. Usually barges sent to unload sufficient cargo to raise the draft, allowing the vessel to make its way to the docks.
